  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from hakuna -- Are you actually LEARNING Spanish? : If so, and you are going to spend any time in Mexico, or even if you are going to watch Netflix shows from Mexico, you better get this book. Mexican daily conversations are filled with slang and even if you've learned a lot of Spanish you may find the conversation incomprehensible without learning what people in Mexico REALLY say when they talk to each other. This is an outstanding book written by a native Mexican, with plenty of examples. The example are important because slang terms are often used, as in English, in many different ways and with different meanings for the same words or phrases. This book is highly recommended. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from CDP's Onceagain habit of purchasingTop Contributor: Guitars -- kindle product, spicy and opportune as most here ¿Hablas español? : You don't really want to speak perfect Spanish as you come off as stuffy to the everyday peersons you meet, as they will look at you funny and they are just normal people who also don't speak perfect Spanish either. Just don't swear at them, no one likes that and you don't want to start a fight and get thumped. You may not need to speak naughty, but it might help if you understand what you are being referred to as a Gringo dealing with the people who do the real work around the Americas. Yes, All of us are Americans! ( Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from D. Aks -- I'm a Spanish learner and learned a lot. Thank you. : I'm really glad there's a book like this. I'm learning Spanish with a focus on Mexican Spanish, and WOW, there is a lot of slang. When I watched my first Mexican show (Club de Cuervos) I could barely understand what they were saying because there was so much slang. So this book really helped clear some things up for me. Their slang is very nuanced (and some really explicit!) Great book. ( Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2018 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Paul -- A Indispensable Reference for Mexican Slang : Raul's book has become an essential part of my arsenal for enhancing my knowledge of the Spanish of Mexico. As someone who frequently travels to Mexico, I routinely refer back to the book to reinforce my understanding of specific slang expressions, as well as to continue learning new words and phrases. As a result of the book, I've been able to selectively incorporate specific words/phrases into my speech when speaking with native speakers. Moreover, the book has been a great tool to help me better understand specific series/movies filmed in Mexico (such as Netflix's Club de Cuervos). I wholeheartedly recommend this book to those serious about improving their Spanish and bringing it to a new level. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2018 )
